If I get an Office 365 Home Premium Sub and hand out the 4 extra licences to family they can sign in with their own Microsoft accounts and use their own OneDrive etc.

My question is - do I have to keep signing in to my account to keep their accounts alive?

Re: Office 365 Home Premium

Yeah, this is pretty much what it says on a site I've been browsing:

  • 1-year subscription to install on 5 PCs or Macs, plus select mobile devices
  • Office for the entire household on up to 5 PCs and Windows 8 tablets, Macs.1
  • The latest versions of: Word 2013, Excel 2013, PowerPoint 2013, Outlook 2013, OneNote 2013, Publisher 2013, and Access 2013
  • An extra 20 GB of online storage in SkyDrive (27 GB total) for anywhere access to your documents.3
  • 60 minutes of Skype™ calls each month to phones in 40+ countries.4
  • One convenient annual subscription for the whole household with automatic upgrades included so you’re always up to date with the latest features and services.

That's from designer Tech software. I have to admit, at some point in time or another, I've opted for cracks and keygens. :D

When you share your subscription, the people you share with can use any of your available installs —they aren’t limited to just one install. If you want them to use only one or two installs, let them know.
If someone you share with uses more Office installs than you want them to, don’t worry, you’re still in control. You can deactivate installs to make more available. Deactivating an install doesn’t remove someone from your subscription. They’ll get to keep their extra SkyDrive storage and can still use your Office installs if they become available.

That seems really backward. Why wouldn't hey just limit the distribution to the original purchaser?

Because they want people to purchase and create a renewing revenue stream. Letting people share cuts their costs.

Personally I think Office 365 is a great deal. Especially if you share with 2 or 3 other people. Ends up being 30-50 a year. That's less than 1 tank of gas in your car.

I agree with that. Im about to press buy, but on office 2013, but only because I disagree and am strongly against everything cloud orientated. I think it will be the demise of the world as we know it. just a personal opinion that is volumes in length to explain.

I'm for cloud, especially when used carefully. My email is all gmail and I have nothing to backup at home. My chrome stuff is all synced to cloud and I never have to backup bookmarks and I have my stuff on every machine I use. My music is all purchased from Amazon cloud and I don't have to store it locally if I don't want to and can stream from a variety of devices. My notes are all in evernote now and available to me no matter where I am. I've learned to embrace it.
