Hey Guys,
I recently acquired an Office 2013 Professional download, and whenever and however I try to install it I get this strange error that I have never seen the likes of before (code 1920, Windows Font Cache Service failed to start).

I have included a pic of the error and the error log

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance

Someone mentioned that the problem is due to other installs of office, either the current, or older installs. Remove them, and start again.

Here are some tools to remove them with: How to uninstall Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office 2010 suites if you cannot uninstall it from Control Panel?
How to uninstall Office 2013 or Office 365

No joy? Someone else said this worked for them. Create a restore point before trying: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4690-restore-point-create-windows-8-a.html
1. Type “services.msc” into the Start Search bar and hit Enter.2. Find the Windows Font Cache Service, select it and hit “Stop”.
2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to “C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local” - requires admin privileges
3. Delete the individual FontCache dat files. (They will regenerate over time.)
4. Restart the Windows Font Cache Service.
5. Restart computer.
Found here: How to Rebuild a Font Cache | eHow

Let me know how this turns out

DustSailer, Clint; unfortunately it seems your methods didn't do much as I received the same result as before...

I would like to mention nonetheless that I have tried going into services.msc and it seems that the Windows Font Cache Service can't be manually started; I don't have a clue as to whether or not this is normal, however I thought it might help.

Just to clarify, did you do this:
2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to “C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local” - requires admin privileges
3. Delete the individual FontCache dat files. (They will regenerate over time.)
5. Restart computer

And try to start the service again?

You can try to force the service back to it's default by restoring all the services (to original default): http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/9413-services-restore-default-services-windows-8-a.html

Basically, Office needs that service to start in order for Office to be installed. Do you have any extra protections on your computer, such as firewalls, antivirus programs, etc?

yep, I deleted all .dat files belonging to the font cache services, restarted the computer and tried to start the service [same result], however I was not aware of the link you posted, so I'll try it
