Anyone had any luck removing the Metro Photos app?

I can remove almost all apps except a few like the Photos app.

I googled this, and got some sort of Power Shell batch thingie but it never worked

is there a simpler straight forward way to do this?

If this was not what you already tried, you might see if OPTION THREE in the tutorial below may uninstall the app for you.

Go to
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
and delete the shortcut. Best move it in the first instance, in case something should go wrong! It did work for me.

I went through the list thrice and couldn't find the Photos app

Please help meh

I think shawn added the red bit in my post, (I think we where both posting at the same time), and when I look, I see it includes my suggestion.
But, what "list"?
Did you look at the path to the start menu?

wait a second, now I know why it didn't appear in the list in the Power Shell, I don't even see the Photos app anymore in my metro start menu!

that could be either 1 of 2 things

1) Maybe since it synced my previous Microsoft Account Profile which was on Windows 8 where I was able to easily uninstall the Photos app

or

2) I saw the Photos app shortcut in the Start Menu folder so I deleted it from there

I still see the Photos app in the Default Programs though

You can fix that by changing the default to the program of your choice. So you are OK now?

If you deleted the Photos app shortcut from the Apps screen, that won't uninstall the app, but will remove it from sight.

The 'Photos' app as well as 'File Manager', aka OneDrive, reside in C:\Windows\FileManager, but BE WARNED, if you uninstall from there you'll mess up a whole bunch of stuff.
