Installing? Developer Preview Apps in Comsumer Preview

Is it possible to 'install" DP Apps in CP?

Where are the 'shortcuts?' for Metro Apps located?

    Here's path one..
    d:\Program Files\Applications\microsoft.build_1.0.1.4_neutral_neutral_8wekyb3d8bbwe\

    Here's path two..
    d:\Users\Windunce\AppData\microsoft.build_8wekyb3d8bbwe\

Yes one can copy those folders to the appropriate place in CP, but getting them 'registered?'
and finding out what takes the place of a .lnk is beyond me at the moment.

    Any help appreciated.

    ps...
For now I've made two users, Windunce and Metro.
I've 'disabled?' the MetroUI for user Windunce and left MetroUI as installed for the user Metro.

I simply unpinned all the apps from the Start Screen except 'Desktop' and enabled Quick Launch on a
double-height TaskBar to replicate? my Win 7 system

User Windunce will logon for day to day productivity and User Metro will logon to enter the brave new world.

The best of both worlds? Well it could be, but not just yet.

    Schizophrenically Yours
    Windunce

    Drag & Drop---Flopped

Found the .lnk to the App.
The folder names changed from DP to CP.
No more Immersive Apps Shortcuts, nor Applications folder.

So I created those folders in CP and copied everything over from DP into them.
The good news? The shortcut showed up in the Start Screen!

The bad news, it doesn't run :(

I suppose I could compare registry entries and import some keys, but before I try that,
does anyone think there is an easier way?

    Thanks
    Windunce

I hit a big snag and I'm to dumb to figure it out, or maybe smart enough not to try!
I didn't copy the files from the AppRepository and when I tried it told me 'fat chance doofus'.

The Owner of that folder is "Trusted Installer" and I didn't have the balls to change ownership to little ol' me.

Perhaps that was the only missing piece of the puzzle, but I highly doubt it.

When installing a Metro App many things probably have to take place involved registering the app
and entering it into a database to name a few.

    Here was the single file.
    r:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository\microsoft.wordhunt_1.0.0.20_neutral_neutral_8wekyb3d8 bbwe.xml

But there were a few in the AppRepository that gave me pause, such as these.
    r:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository\edb.log
    r:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository\PackageRepository.edb
    r:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository\edb.chk

So if I REALLY want to use those apps again, for now I'll just boot into DP
while I wait for a guru to sort this all out.

Well, did you fix it. If so, tell me how. So far, I only get this, similar to yours:

Nope, no fix as of yet.

I dropped the ball so to speak.
If I get extremely bored I'll boot back and forth twixt the two OSes and do some registry comparisons.

Think I'll purchase another 2Gig external and do a few Windows DRIVE Images before I delve into it again.

    And it bears repeating...

Windows Drive Image is just that, a DRIVE imaging app.
Windows Drive Image is NOT a PARTITION imaging app.

If you fail to check/dot ALL partitions on the singular drive, upon restore,
Windows will blithely reformat those unchecked partitions and leave them
with the EXACT size it found them, but completely erase any data you had on them.

    BEWARE!
