Hey all,
After a clean install of Windows 8 Pro and upgrading to 8.1 Pro immediately after, I noticed that the Photos app takes a very long time to load a photo that I opened from the Desktop. When double clicking a picture from the Desktop, the Photos app splash screen comes up and stays like that for like 30 seconds until it views the picture. It also takes that long when clicking the app itself. Notice that this only happens the first time when I open the Photos app after a restart or boot. Opening the Photos app doesn't take long anymore.
If I close the photos app while it's still in the splash screen an error would pop up that says that the "PhotosApp.exe has reached a breakpoint". A MoAppHang of Photosapp.exe error also pops up in the eventlog in that case.
I noticed quite a lot of people are having this popup error and I have tried different solutions without any success:
- Did an SFC /scannow
- Tried the App Troubleshooter (it says I need to update my graphics driver although they are already up to date)
- Rebuilt the indexing and restored the Default settings in the My Pictures folder Properties
- Installed all updates from Windows Update
My specs:
Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Centre
GTX 660Ti with latest WHQL driver (332.21)
3570K CPU (stock)
8 GB RAM
Can anyone help me with this?
