    Windows 8 Codecs

    Changelog:
    - initial release for Windows 8
    - highly optimized playback
    - based solely on the LAV filters
    - will also work on Windows 7

    The Windows 7 release = 27MB - This release = 14.7MB
biggest difference? ffdshow, haali and gabests filters are removed

    Get it from Majorgeeks

Just download CCC (Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2011-11-11). Works a treat with Win8, WMP, and has media player classic.

Things the Shark pack does that CCCP (or Klite) cannot do . . .

    1. Full color thumbnails including FLV's and 10bit MKV's
(also allows users to select at what point by percentage to grab the thumbnail)
    2. Enable the Preview Pane for ALL newly enabled filetypes such as MKV and FLV.
    3. Explorer properties are displayed for non native filetypes such as MKV and FLV
    4. Updated often - and has update notification builtin
    5. Allow use of the PDVD12 decoders for 32bit LiveTV
    6. Supports the use of Xbox360 as Extenders to playback MKV files
    7. Allows singleclick setup of Bitstreamed Audio
    8. Support playback of MOD audio files and M4A files containing ALAC
    9. Supports playlist creation for use in Media Center
    10. Allow users to Enable/Disable codecs installed on their system
    11. Funtionality such as Win7DSFilterTweaker builtin.
    12. Support 'Add to Windows Media Player List' using rightclick on all files such as MKV.

On my Tools page are up-to-date SVN releases of MPC-Homecinema that are preconfigured to use the installed codecs including a version with MadVR setup and ready to go.

are there some ways that I can use this codec pack but use MPC Home Cinema as default player in Windows 8 CP?

I try to install MPC Home Cinema on Win8 but when I try to open it, it asks for DirectX Runtime June 2010,

is that safe to install on Windows 8 CP?
    I am just curious...

On my Tools page I release pre-configured versions of this player that will use the installed codecs and will not give you any problems. Be sure to uninstall the current player before installing the new pplayer.

What you chose there is a lower quality renderer. With my release, that will not be required.

SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and Tumblr were all sites I used to be able to stream audio from, but since last week it all came to a halt. My bets are that what has been affected were the codecs involved in mp3 playback. One of my friends on SoundCloud uploaded a song I could play back, but SoundCloud...
Hello all, I just installed the Shark007 Codecs and reboot the PC. Because, I need to play.MKV video files. I didn't change that plugin settings. Now when I play the AVI video files which has dual audio (two languages), now Windows Media player automatically playing both audio sounds. When I...
Hello, When I try playing .mpg files with WMP, I get sound, but no picture. When I try playing them with VLC Media Player, they play fine for about 20-30 seconds and then either freeze or the picture just goes away. Upgraded to WIN8.1. I read that a codec may be needed. Where's a safe place...
List of Media Foundation Codecs? in Software and Apps
I thought it would be good to start a list of Media Foundation codecs, so people can still play their .mkvs and such in Metro apps. Media Foundation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So far: .mkv: DivX Plus Tech Preview: MKV on Windows 7 | DivX Labs (No subtitle support, and watch as it...
I want to be able to check my Movie librarys and see which videos will need to be converted to work with Metro apps. How do I do that?
Metro applications do not support DirectShow, which is what is used for all current third party codecs. This sucks, because my ideal Windows 8 setup (as a HTPC) REQUIRES the metro apps to be able to handle my .MKVs and subtitles. I could probably convert them all to Windows 8 native codecs, but...
