    Macrium Reflect Free BSODS

W8CP 32bit in VMPlayer. Macrium Free installs correctly and apparently does an image of system and c correctly but when you reboot you get a BSOD.

Page fault in a non paged area. The system reboots and tries again. Fails with the same BSOD then reboots into system recovery and recovers to an earlier point in time.

This may be a VMPlayer problem but is probably Macrium. It might be worth someone with a real machine trying it.

I had BSOSs on normal install W8Cp 32bit aswell.

I wasn't sure what caused it, as I had done tons of change without reboot.

But I refreshed it and traced back all my work with frequent restarts and system restore points.
    Had no BSODs this time.

The only thing different was Macrium Reflect free. As I used cold Clonezilla backup this time.

So, now I am quite sure it is problem with Macrium.

I think macrium was ok in WDP - so it appears to be an issue with WCP.

The wcp setup.exe thing told me paragon wouldn't work.

It is working ok so far ( that is paragon v12 - also a beta ) probably the earlier v11 paragons won't work.

You could try Easeus - I haven't tried it yet - but my guess is it will be ok.

Yes. I managed to run Macrium OK on WDP also.

I've just retried the latest version of Macrium Free in a clean install in VirtualBox this time. This time I had no problems either with the backup or a subsequent restore so whether the original problem with the BSOD was due to Macrium is debatable.

I am running Win8 CP 64bit on dual-boot and on March 4 installed Macrium Free version 5.0.4286 64bit with no problems. Last week I used it to do a restore on Win8 with not problems. Just got a new update yesterday to 5.0.4354 and all is well. Do you remember what version you had a problem with?

It was 5.0.4286 32bit. I wonder if that was it. My VBox installation is 64bit and VMPlayer was 32bit.

    I think macrium is ok.

As long as you haven't chosen X as your os drive letter - then you will be in all sorts of trouble.
