Accessing a corrupted word file

Hello,

I'm a bit hazy on the details of this one as I'm not exactly sure what happened.

A few weeks ago I had some issues with not being able to save files. This came at an inconvenient time for work and I was pretty stressed out. I can't actually remember what I did to solve this but the problem eventually went away, although I had no idea what had caused it at the time.

Some days later when I tried to open a word document I got a message saying something along the lines of "are you sure you want to open this file? It has become corrupted and caused loads of problems with your computer the last time you had it open". So I guess that was the original issue. At the time I didn't desperately need the file and I had a lot of work so I haven't had time to try to solve the issue until now. Does anyone know what might have caused the file to get corrupted? (I'm not even sure my PC used this term). And is there any way I can retrieve the information in it?

Thank you!

If the file is severely corrupted and nothing is working, you can try a Word recovery tool to retrieve the information from it. This is the only thing you are left with. But before trying this, you can also try "Open and Repair" technique of MS Word. This will fix the file and you can view it with ease. If this fails, you can try a third-party recovery tool for corrupted Word document.

I can recommend you SysInfoTools Word recovery tools here. If you are talking about DOC file, you can try its SysInfoTools MS Word DOC Recovery tool, or if you are talking about DOCX file, you can try its SysInfoTools MS Word DOCX Recovery tool.

Try free demo version of these tool first.
Thanks.
