Macrium Reflect Free put image on USB rescue?

Seems the fly in the ointment for sticking an image on the Macrium Reflect Boot Rescue USB is that they want the USB to be FAT32. The 4 GB file size limit is a killjoy. Has anyone got around it? Right now I have backup images on another partition of my HD. But if partitions got badly hosed I don't know if the WinPE rescue on the USB stick would see it. I have a 32 GB USB 3.0 stick. So I should be able to store one backup image if it wasn't for the FAT32 issue.

Can't you split the image into sub 4gb chunks?

I made 2 pictures.
One the rescue usb & the other the full backup of all local drives.
Peruse them & see if they apply to your issue.

I think Miles wants to put the backup image on usb. That is why he needs pieces under 4gb.

I don't understand the 4 GB thing. :(

When he replies things may become clearer. :)

OK. I just did it. Nothing to it actually. I had a USB stick FAT32. I used it as WinPE boot using Macrium. My data files already on the stick were not deleted. Anyway, I could not copy an image file I already had on my HD partition because it was 18 GB. So I just did a new backup. When Macrium saw the USB stick was the target and FAT32, it just made multiple numbered image files, none greater than 4 GB. Now, unless something weird happens, I should be able to boot the USB stick and restore from the image files on the stick. It's slower than saving to the HD. But it's good to make an image on the stick now and then in case the HD gets totally hosed for some reason.

Thank you. I guess I should have tried it before posting. I must be getting old or old and lazy. :)

Just today did a backup for a friend, and saw this (unexpected) list of 4gb files appearing, his (old) external 3,5" turned out to be FAT. As a simple test after the imaging, mounted the drive and looked trough files, all seems fine, Reflect gluing the pieces nicely together :O)

I'm glad it's pretty much automatic because it will take me a bit to acclimate to this new-fangled GPT stuff. :)
