Solved I Can't Launch My Apps

I click on them but they won't launch. A blank grey screen appears after trying to launch them. Words near the bottom of tile say "Microsoft.WindowsLive.Mail", "Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar" and "Microsoft.WindowsLive.People".

Is this happening with modern apps?

Thank you Brink I uninstalled and reinstalled, now they work well.

Great news.

You know, since I just did a 'trouble shooting' session for my core Metro apps issues with Win8.1 Pro/Media Center...I reinstalled Win8 Pro, all core Metro apps worked and updated properly...then I upgraded to Win8.1 Pro/Media Center via the MS Store link...at first all core Metro apps 'seemed to function properly'....then I went to Windows Update, installed all updates, the repeated this procedure through the 'newly updated' Windows Store for 8.1...it picked up a bunch of updates for the core Metro apps, and after this.....installing them....I had some buggie issues...hopefully Microsoft will 'tighten-up' on both the Win8.1 Store and the core Metro apps...
This morning (after all new, fresh files), my Weather app was displaying the 'wrong city'...single clicking on the app produced nothing as it quickly went back to the Win8.1 Metro Desktop....sigh...Reinstalling the app seemed to rectify the situation....but come-on MS...lol
