    Question on " gadgets"

    Hey gang,

Ok so I know with Windows 8, MS did away with the sidebar and gadgets, due to security concerns I guess.

There was one I had I really liked, it was a cpu usage meter, and it showed several things, usage on the cores, usage on ram, etc.
I have find things like this:
All CPU Meter - Monitoring your processor,RAM usage and other - Windows 8 Downloads

But when I do, when I try to download it always tries to install some download manager and at some point through the process I get concerned and cancel out.

Maybe gadget is not really what I am looking for - I would just like an app on my regular desktop, that can display this time of information?

If anyone could steer me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks,

    - Don

I use gadgets on my Win8.1 setup all the time.

To install Gadgets in Win8 or 8.1, Google for "8GadgetPack". It installs the foundation software needed for gadgets and it comes with a set of gadgets as well. I'm able to use all my former Win7 gadgets with Win8.1 with no problems.
