2. Go back on start page
3. Mouse over the app (not the one in the side bar, but the one you start usualy the app.)
4. There will be a x, click on it
5. Choose go to store
6. It will say that app need to be repaired.

Was wondering if you could elaborate on a few things for me as I can't get the results you described. My problem app is Bing Food & Drink which will flash the loading screen for a moment then dump me back to the start screen. The app is still open though if you hover over the left side of the screen, showing it stuck on the loading screen.

Now, if I click that stuck app, it will open normal and going back to the start screen with it running and hovering over the tile just shows the app's name, no X as you mention. If I close the app and try restarting it, it most likely will work for some reason and I get the same results, no X. So could you explain a little better how you get the X and how do you get that to show when you somehow manage to have the app running which would seem to mean you have it working fully like I mentioned to keep it running.

Yes, I feel your pain...there is apparently 'issues' with both new Win8.1 Store, and the core Metro apps (that you have mentioned above)...There are post in Microsoft Answers Forums (Win8.1 section)...will attempt to locate some of them and post links...

EDIT/QUESTION:

If the Metro Store app is set to 'not display' the live tile....does/should it still show 'numerical live updates' if available??
Thanks

To Check for App Updates in Store from Live Tiles

A) Verify that you have the live tile turned on for the Store app to receive updates displayed on it.

B) Look at the bottom right corner of the Store app to see if there is a number there. If so, then click/tap on the Store app. The number represents how many apps that have an update available for them. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: If you do not have a number displayed, then it means that you do not have any app updates available, or that you have the live tile turned off for the Store app.

Should have researched more....good ole Shawn to the rescue...lol
