Any Way to Prevent Apps From Remaining Open

I found that whenever I open an app, such as 'Reader' they remain open even after I switch to something else.
I know I could close them by swiping the upper left of the screen and select 'Close'.
Is there a way to have them close altogether when I'm done with them?

  • OS
    Windows 8.1 64 bit
Move the curser to top of screen and when it turns to a Hand, hold left click and drag to bottom of screen and it will close the app.

Hello James,

I'm afraid that unless you completely close the modern app or UI screen, they will remain suspended in the background until you close them, restart the PC, shut down, or Windows closes them if memory is needed.

It is done this way to allow them to open almost instantly the next time you open it when suspended. When they are suspended, they don't use any resources.

Hope this helps, :)
