Solved Error 2503

Hi, this is on Windows 8.1 Pro, 64 bit. Anytime I try to install something I get that installer error, 2503, and then the install exits. I've searched quite a bit for this but no love. :cry:
Any ideas?

Have you tried running the install as 'Administrator'?

You could try:
1. Goto TaskManager > Details > Explorer.exe & click on End Task.
2. Now Click on File in Task Manager > type Explorer.exe -- Check the box below shows as ( Create this task with administrative privileges.)
3. Now install.

OK, I can install that way. That's a nice work-around. What do you think is causing the problem? Permissions issue?

If i'm honest i'm not entirely sure.

If you reboot now and try again without doing the work-around above does it work?
(obviously no permanent changes have been put in place to actually fix the issue... i'm just clutching at straws :))

One more tidbit; this only seems to happen with .msi files.

Maybe try running the following commands to re-register the windows installer

Windows Key + R >> msiexec.exe /unreg >> Click OK
Then
Windows Key + R >> msiexec.exe /regserver >> Click OK

Try installing again (once explorer is running as you and not administrator)
