Narrator— help needed

I've tried to use Windows Narrator several times throughout the last 10 years. On XP, Vista, 7 & 8. Now with eyesight getting fuzzy and blurry I need to figure it out more than ever.

I would like it to read the body of a news article or an email but I cannot get it to work right. It will read the title and a bunch of HTML code with a ping two thrown in to aggravate me more! Sometimes the first line of the news story or email.

Other than that it only reads text that I select with my mouse.
Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have Googled it so many ways already.

I've been playing with Caps Lock+M and sometimes it reads a line, sometimes a paragraph and once the whole article.
Does anyone use it regularily?

It is a very tempermental program and I really could depend on it.
I finally got Windows Voice Recognition to work real sweet. After buying a Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 USB Headset. And adjusting microphone settings in sound. It's working like Dragon Naturally Speaking commercial.
