HI,
here is my problem, I have a business software that I may use once or twice a day(sometimes more) that
requires UAC to be off. If I shut it off then other programs won't work. Customers don't want to wait while i
change the registry and restart the computer.
Can I set up a different user account that have it off and just switch between users?
Thanks

Have you asked the creators of the business software for a workaround, upgrade or fix for this problem, or are you trying to use a legacy version of the software that is not strictly compatible with Windows 8.x. If so, Windows 7 may be your best bet.

Hi,
yes I have contacted the company. They said they will get back to me. Nothing is free with this company, i am expecting they
will tell me they now have a version that will work with 8 but it will cost several hundred dollars.
Better for me to just go back to 7
Thanks

It is possible to run Windows 7 seamlessly in a Virtual Machine hosted by Windows 8 - so If you have a Windows 7 License, and enough resources in terms of diskspace and RAM, you could keep Windows 8 and run your software on 7 with whatever user permissions you choose. You could trial your installation using the Windows 7 VMs Microsoft make available here: Cross-browser testing simplified | Testing made easier in Internet Explorer | modern.IE

I will give that a try after........
the computer crashed, windows 8 would stay up long enough to do anything
so I tried repairing it and tried to re-install off the disk but
it got to 70 percent and told me a file is missing

so as soon as i get this fixed I can re-address the uac issue
Thanks
