    IIS Enabled

I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1. I noticed in C:\Users that there was a folder named DefaultAppPool. It was created around the time I installed Windows 8.1. With further research I found out it was related to IIS. I looked at the enabled Windows features and found that part of IIS was enabled (IIS->World Wide Web Services->Application Development Features->.NET Extensibility 4.5 AND IIS->World Wide Web Services->Security->Request Filtering). Do I need these enabled? Is it important? Or can I disable it again? I do not use IIS. Also when I clicked the check box next to it in turn Windows features on or off (just to test it) it said:

The following Windows features will also be turned off because they are dependent of Internet Information Services. Do you want to continue?

    Named Pipe Activation
    Message Queuing (MSMQ) Activation

I have no clue what that is though. Help please?

    hello seanhemi,

I do not have any of those features enabled so I can only guess they are OK to turn off for the average user.

    Good luck with your decision.
