How do I find DirectX 11.2 in the updates menu?

Hi, I'm trying to install Directx 11.1 or 11.2 (either will work for Battlefield 4) on Windows 8.1 64bit. I go to control panel and search for "optional updates" but Directx 11.2 does not show up there. How can I update to Directx 11.1 or .2?

Hi jaypaul97,

I can confirm that I do not see it either and that may be because you don't have a driver installed that supports11.1. My assumption is based on this AMD advisory:

Users can now download a Microsoft-certified AMD Catalyst™ driver that enables full support for the DirectX 11.1 API

Now, since you have not provided any relevant specs, I have no idea whether you have an AMD or Intel based graphics solution so good luck in you search for an updated driver that supports 11.1 and maybe that will trigger the Windows Update to appear. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. My GPU is a GTX 670 and I have the latest non-beta release drivers. I guess the 670 just doesn't support 11.1 or 11.2?

I guess the 670 just doesn't support 11.1 or 11.2?

According to this article, it appears that NVIDIA has decided not to turn on the full 11.1 functionality on several models. However, they claim they can provide limited support for 11.1 via 11.0 (however that's done). So, you may not get the option to download DirectX 11.1 unless NVIDIA changes their mind. Good luck.
