Programs uninstalled after Windows 8.1 Update

Before updating, a message was shown that updating will not delete any of my information or files but apps will be uninstalled. Upon restarting my laptop, my apps were uninstalled (and I just re-installed them) but my program files were also uninstalled. Yea, I can just install them all again but some program file that were uninstalled were my Microsoft Office that I paid for and the paid software that came preinstalled on my laptop (Like the webcam, movie editor, etc). I really need those software (especially office) but I do not want to pay for them. Would a system restore bring back those files? Is that the only way I can get those programs (and others) back?

You can try looking in /C: and see if windows made a windows.old folder before updating. It should contain program files etc.

I have done that. The programs files and such are there but not all of them, when I try to open an application a pop-up come up that says that there are files missing or their isn't even an .exe file that I can click to open it.
