Programs uninstalled after Windows 8.1 Update

Before updating, a message was shown that updating will not delete any of my information or files but apps will be uninstalled. Upon restarting my laptop, my apps were uninstalled (and I just re-installed them) but my program files were also uninstalled. Yea, I can just install them all again but some program file that were uninstalled were my Microsoft Office that I paid for and the paid software that came preinstalled on my laptop (Like the webcam, movie editor, etc). I really need those software (especially office) but I do not want to pay for them. Would a system restore bring back those files? Is that the only way I can get those programs (and others) back?

You can try looking in /C: and see if windows made a windows.old folder before updating. It should contain program files etc.

I have done that. The programs files and such are there but not all of them, when I try to open an application a pop-up come up that says that there are files missing or their isn't even an .exe file that I can click to open it.

Store: update notifications for uninstalled Apps? in Windows Updates & Activation
For the last month or so, Windows Store now reports available updates for applications I have uninstalled, like Sports and Finance. This did not happen in the past. Does the same happen for you, too? Is it a problem, or a devious and annoying way to trick us into reinstalling these Windows 8 apps?
After spending an inordinate amount of time getting my old applications to work with Win 8 (and giving up for some) I finally had a system that seemed to be working. Then File Explorer started to freeze. I saw that I had not installed the recent updates. So I did this. Now a whole bunch of programs...
Well.. this is wonderful.. I just purchased the 10 dollar version of Office 2013 pro for home use through the company I work for. Prior to installing, I figured, I should probably first uninstall 2010 just so everything is a nice clean slate. After uninstalling 2010 though, I got prompted to...
