    Windows 8.1 compatibility settings

So since upgrading to 8.1, I've been getting messages out the ass about compatibility. One of them is this:

Naturally I know some stuff is gonna have to run in that mode until 8.1's been out for a while, but can I disable this from popping up somehow?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello tasking, and welcome to Eight Forums.

That would be the Program Compatibility Assistant asking you this. Disabling it should stop this for you.

    Hope this helps,

Ugh, unfortunately I have to report back. I didn't realize I had regular old 8.1, not Pro or Enterprise, so no LGPE. Any chance there might be another way of disabling it so I don't have to install another version?

Sure, you could use OPTION ONE with the .reg files in the tutorial instead to do so.

I tried that, but maybe it didn't work cuz I didn't run as administrator. I'm the only user so I thought I had admin status automatically, but maybe not. I'll try it and report back

Was that, nope that you are not signed in to Windows 8 with an administrator account?

If nope it didn't work, then did you restart the computer after using step 2 in Option One?
