Can't update any apps - Windows firewall is not running!

Greetings.
I tried today for the first time to update my apps in Windows Store. But with no success at all. Every single one came out with an error: "Windows firewall service is not running"
No, it is not running, because I have Kaspersky Internet Security installed.

So what now? Do I have to deactivate Kaspersky and activate Windows firewall just to update my apps??
What do I then do when Windows 8.1 becomes available in Windows Store in a few days?

Are you running an old version of Kapersky that isn't compatible with Windows 8?

Even with that version, the Windows Firewall will at least be ON, even if Kaspersky has it's own firewall. This is the problem with AV programs that replace the Windows Firewall, because if Windows Firewall is not running, many other services will also not run. I used to use Eset Smart Security which also has it;s own firewall, but it would never shut off the Windows Firewall service.

If you can't start the Windows Firewall service, you might have Sirefef, a virus that shuts it off and infects Windows Defender.

Try renaming your Windows Defender folder to "Windows Defender Old" and rename the Defender Executable from "MSASCui.exe" to something else, then try reinstalling updates in the app store.

Check through this page as well:

Fix: Unable to Install Apps from Windows 8 Store

Yah, I see something in there, try Syncing your Licenses first.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
i had similar problems and found that `firewall` was just a euphemism for any deviation from microsoft`s preferred methds. so make sure winows upate is completly active. you might try cleaning the app cache; run WSReset.exe.

i also found a help find the problem i think i n the charms bar which did find and fix it but i dont know what it did.
