Hi Dasha, and welcome to the Eight Forums . . .. Go into control panel and choice "Default Programs" then choice the files you want to use with Media Monkey, also you can right mouse click on a Mp3 file (or one that you want to assign to Media Monkey then go to "open with" then choice default program." Hope this helps, and good luck.

A second option for you is to browse in file explorer to any mp3 file. Then right click your mp3 file and select open with in the popup menu. Then press chose default program. Now you should get a window with some programs that you can chose to use as default program.

If your program is not in that list (and also not when you press more) chose the option "look for an other app on this PC". Then browse to the system folder of your program most likely located under C:\Program Files (x86). The folder of your program should contain a file that runs the aplication. Select that file and then it should run the MP3 you selected and save that program as default for MP3.

Thanks for all of that SebasSmits Done of that and that's where the Problem Lies' I think? I just spent an hour in "Set Your Program default's" and there are several I have set MM as the Default but even going into C//ProgX86 /MM Select Media Monkey EXE does not change the Icon from I think it's a Win 8 Music Icon anyway because it wont do that I does not arrive in The set your Default Program List I will include 2 Screen shot's Cheers Dasha:D

Dear Dasha,

To be clear I installed Media Monkey on my own computer to figre out if it works.

What you have to do to make Media Monkey your default is what I said (go to an MP3 file and get to select an app on my PC.)
When youre there you have to browse to Program Files (x86) and then open the folder Media Monkey as you did.
Then simply select the .EXE file Media Monkey and youre done.

I think Media Monkey COM is just a patch for internet conection. So I should keep it on your computer.

What you can try is going to control panel and select programs and features. Select Media Monkey and look if there is an option in the ribbon called repair. If there is try that.

If there is no option to repair i suggest you re-install Media Monkey.

Before you re-install, check if all the data you want is saved on your computer. When uninstalled (does not require a reboot) redownload the program on MediaMonkey » Download MediaMonkey Free
Run the wizard and the MM.COM patch should be back.
