How to prevent modern apps connecting internet

Hi all,

I offten play game online, and my network is not fast. So when I playing game, it's usually "lag". I think it is because the modern apps (mail, people, weather...) and other background services auto connect to internet. I can stop or turn off these background services, but I don't know how to turn off or prevent modern apps do that to improve the network speed. So I really need your help.

You might be able to turn of the permission to use internet by the app's settings. If its a metro app try opening the charms bar and select settings. There should be a tab with Permissions in there, dont know if you can toggle the permissions..

For particular purposes or reasons, one may configure the firewall to block specifics, like ip \ ip ranges, inbound and\or outbound. Available using 'Advanced settings'. See attachment. Useful if one sees\suspects some unwanted\unsolicited Network activity (check in Resource Monitor > Network > TCP Connections).

Remember many programs and all these new 'apps' are specifically made to transmit stuff, they want to know everything you are doing, not doing, or intend to do and what you eat for breakfast. It's called "enhanced user experience" etc lol. Some of it may be useful (like checking for updates) or wanted\needed, so make your choice how much should be stopped.
