RE: LightScribe - Downloads - Windows

The installation of the free Lightscribe software driver (LS_Update_1.18.24.1_.exe) and the Simple Labeler (LightScribeSimpleLabeler_1.18.15.1.exe) free from www.lightscribe.com installs fine in compatability mode.

However, the Lightscribe Template Labeler (LightScribeTemplateLabeler_1.18.24.1.exe) will not install on Windows 8. The error message reads: "The operating system is not adequate for running Lightscribe Template Labeler." I have tried every compatibility setting and still get the same error message that blocks the install each time.

I can burn a Lightscribe label just fine from other software on Windows 8.

Just though I'd share this info.

If you upgraded to Windows 8 From Vista or 7, the installation creates a folder 'Windows.old' on your hard drive, so hopefully you didn't delete it before trying to install Lightscribe. Go to the Program Files(x86) in the Windows.old folder and copy and paste the Lightscribe template labeler folder (the entire folder) into the Windows 8 Program Files (x86) folder, then create a shortcut for the executable file in that folder and put it on your desktop or pin it to your taskbar. Works perfectly, you can even add new templates after this.

Hi Guys…

I have been working on this problem of using the LightScribe Template Labeler on Windows 8-10 for some while, and have come up with a solution to 'install' both the Simple Labeler and the Template Labeler on Windows 8.0/8.1 and 10

There are two methods and i have created a video for each:

Using The Simple & Template Labeler on Windows 8.1 & 10 Method 1 - LightScribe.tv

The Simple & Template Labeler on Windows 8.1 & 10 Method 2 - LightScribe.tv

Watch both, and choose the one you want to use.

I hope that helps.

All my best.

Steve
