Hello all. With the Windows 8.1 Preview, there is the capability to run videos in the background of the start screen and all apps area that is running on the desktop using Stardock Deskscapes. There is a beta available (8.09) that works but is a little buggy for now. If you want to see an active waterfall or ocean waves on the start screen and apps area you can but the software is still in beta and so is Windows 8.1 Preview (beta). When the final releases happen, it should really be something if you like that sort of thing. The CPU utilization is really low, depending on the video.
EDIT : update : Deskscapes version 8.1 release now works - (not in beta)
It requires RTM or GA release of Windows 8.1 and updated video drivers.
