Thanks Howling, I will check it out.
I still haven't figured out what is causing this thing not to run.

You might want to Restore it back to when it was working.
Also think back to when it was working and ask yourself what other programs have I added that may have caused it to go
    haywire? IMHO

Well see that's what I'm finding odd... There aren't many things I could have installed which would have buggered up a shortcut... because that's all the tiles really are, right?
I've got iTunes, paint.NET, mIRC, Firefox, Chrome, Teamviewer... all pretty average stuff that I don't think would stop Snipping Tool from running from the start menu. And to make matters stranger, it runs perfectly fine from a desktop shortcut.

Jing is great. I use it on Win7 but could yet not make it work on Win8.

Yeah I'm having issues with it as well. I guess I could just pin my snipping tool shortcut to the taskbar for the time being, and deal with it in the Beta.

You can also use this one - it is nearly as good as Jing and installs on Win8.

No problem. Any time. I use the pro version which is a later release, but there is quasi no difference from the free version.
