Office RT -- definitely a TOY version of Office

Hi there
I tried a little play with an RT tablet at work -- Office RT is definitely IMO "Toy Office" if you want to do any sort of serious work.

EXCEL just won't currently do any decent VB macros so trying to automate for example downloading Real Time stock / option quotes into a spread sheet and feed these into an application just isn't on.

It does simple calculations etc -- but for any SERIOUS excel user -- forget it --wait for the PROPER version on a surface pro if you must use a tablet.

As an "Overgrown" smart phone (without the phone bit) it performed adequately but I can't really see this as a serious work device -- I wouldn't even like to watch a movie on it for more than about 30 mins and as for watching THIS -- forget it.

(Ashes Cricket England Vs Australia -- looks like even to my inexperienced eyes the guys from down under are getting HAMMERED). Actually I never thought I'd like cricket --it's quite interesting actually especially on the Internet stream at work. !!!! About the only use for the wretched RT tablet !!).

They have free Android versions as well (if that would work on your tablet):

Thanks for the suggestion -- there are generally alternatives I agree -- however the point I was trying to make was that the standard RT office supplied by Ms (as part of the Sales spiel in selling the RT tablet in the first place) IMO isn't really fit for purpose.

Actually on an android device the kinsoft office isn't that horrible -- although it still has limitations -- however thanks for your suggestions.

Also just to be a bit pedantic -- Ms office is actually the only decent office version I can get in ICELANDIC too -- OK that's not a 100% issue but all things being equal it DOES have its merits --especially when I'm on contract in Belgium (Brussels) with a few minutes to spare and working on a private spread sheet working out Stock market movements / profit and loss trades and the Boss suddenly appears from nowhere !!!.

I'm usually pretty conscientious but I'm sure EVERBODY spends a little time on private matters at work --they wouldn't be human if they didn't and provided it's done reasonably what's the problem.
