    Java and Windows 8

Initially I had problems with IE/windows not recognising java however I checked on the forum and found what I thought was a fix. I downloaded 64bit ( I think is was 7/21 ) - came off line ran the programme and rebooted - low and behold it worked ( albeit just on desktop ). That was ten days ago.

Last night I logged on and not only has the problem re- occurred ( ie when I log onto the site I am told to " get java which it is already sitting there ) I am now told that an add on has been blocked by windows because its source is unknown. I have been using the site for at least two years and never had this problem with windows7. The only change that has been made to the laptop is an automatic windows update.

How I wish I had NEVER bought a laptop with Windows8 installed - it is causing me ( and obviously lots of other guys lots of problems )

PLEASE can any one help because it goes out the " window "

    Uninstall previous java.

    Download 64 bit java.

    Download Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.25 (64-bit) - FileHippo.com

    Download 32 bit java.

    Download Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.25 (32-bit) - Download - FileHippo.com

    Install one & reboot.
    Install the other & reboot.

    Go here to test it:

How do I test whether Java is working on my computer?
