Need help with Win8 appstore

I downloaded the tunein radio app (free) from the win8 store and after installing it, dragged it to my desktop (thinking I was dragging a copy and the original would stay put) where I thought I could use it there. The icon turned into a blank white page with the word "app" under it. I clicked it and of course, it does not work from the desktop. When I went back to the start button (I'm using classic shell) menu to view my apps, the tunein app is not there. So, I thought, since it's free, I would just download it again from the win8 appstore. Well, I can't since I already own it and the app, because I dragged it to the desktop, won't work. And it will not drag back to the start button menu. This is a new laptop which I am very happy with and got at a great price, but win8 is a nightmare and I'm seriously thinking of returning this laptop because of win8. And by the way, there is no "search" option in the app store, I had to go online to search for how to search for a particular item in the win 8 app store. As I said, win8 is a nightmare and I hate it! In the meantime, how can I get the tunein app again, even though I already own it, but it won't work. Thanks.

the search in windows 8 is contextual. meaning the search is always through the charms bar.

if you want to search wikipedia through the wikipedia app, open the search in your charms bar. you want to search your email through the email app, you open the charms bar. you want to search the windows store, you open the charms bar. the charms bar adjusts to whatever app is opened.

same thing for settings. each program does not have its own settings in its app. when you want the settings for the app in question, you open the charms bar.

did you try uninstalling the tunein app? I love that app. the only problem is on my PC, it takes forever to start the stream. On my dad's PC it comes up very fast (go figure; I set up both machines though they have wildly different hardware).

Thanks Dirtyvu. After I downloaded Classic Shell, I followed the instructions to disable the charms bar, which I hate. The charms bar has an extremely bad habit of appearing when I don't want it, which is most of the time. And, you do not have to move the cursor to the upper right corner to access the charms bar. My cursor can be slightly left of the middle of the screen or towards the bottom of the screen for the cb to appear which is why I turned it off. After disabling it through classic shell, the cb still appears every so often, without my trying to access it, but it's not as bad as before. Anyway, I did get back to the app store, where there are no instructions for finding anything, and after right clicking a few different areas, finally saw the option to install. I now have tunein back. I'm now looking for a similar, new laptop with win7 installed before my grace period for returning my win8 laptop runs out. Jane

yeah, if you're using a mouse, you can go to either the top right corner of the bottom right corner of the monitor with the windows 8 start screen to access the charms bar.

for the windows store, you can click on the subject headings to access the software for that section. so click on games for the games section. click on entertainment for the entertainment apps. etc. etc. I have no idea how to search the windows store without the search function in the charms bar. maybe through a web browser at that point.

hope everything works out for you. good luck! :)
