Programs not loading

Hello, my new pc with windows 8 arrived on Monday. Despite hearing negative reports I wondered what could be so wrong with windows 8 and didn't really mind interface changes, I'm sure I'll adapt to the new changes.

I am very annoyed though that only 3 days after getting my new system I am encountering a number of problems which i never experienced with Windows Vista/98/95.

I have a program called HoldemManager2 which I got to work as usual after some initial problems, but then last night only 48 hours after getting the computer this program would not open. My first thought was that there was a fault with the program. I restarted my computer several times and everytime the same thing would happen, it would appear as loading and then not load. It doesn't give error messages, it doesn't say 'not responding' - it merely refuses to load.

I took a screendump: 5ddab35c48414ef754d00ba8751eaa97.png

As you can see this screendump also includes a picture of skype having the exact same problem. It was working but now this morning after restarting my computer again to try and load HoldemManager2 - skype also has the exact same problem. I have tried uninstalling skype and reinstalling and this time i got to the screen to sign in - but when i entered my details it wouldn't sign me in. Again there was no error messages, the program wasnt unresponsive - it just would not load.

I found a couple of interesting posts by others experiencing similar problems such as:

Windows 8 - Programs not loading

http://www.eightforums.com/network-...aunching-internet-connection-windows-8-a.html

In the second link the issue was 'solved' by re-installing the programs, but in my case with skype at least this did not work.

Can someone offer some assistance as I'm truly at a loss and naturally frustrated given that I paid for a brand new system and expect it to be an improvement on what I had before and so far find it pretty unusable.

Regards,
Angry Windows 8 User.

On systems that ive checked i found the main reason why programs wont load or even try to load is because it wants to be run as administrator, which is nonsense because the user IS the administrator.

The usual fix was to run the program as administrator either by right click and run as admin or

right click the shortcut go to properties then compatibility and select run as administrator.

Give that a shot, let us know...

IF, as you claim, the user IS the Administrator (which generally, they are NOT), the selecting "Run as Administrator" would make no difference, now would it!

Since Vista, the default user is no longer the Administrator, but instead, a general user with some elevated rights. There is hidden REAL Administrator account which (by definition) IS the Administrator, but since it's hidden, folks don't log on using it.
