kde on Win 8 experience?

I wonder if anyone has had experience with kde for Win 8, and if so, what conclusions? I have been using the kde desktop on Linux for some years, and I like it. I installed the 4.8.00 version of kde for Win some time back on my
Win 7 machine. It did not create a desktop, but it did add a number of kde apps which are very handy. And some which would be handy if they worked! (Specifically, KSnapshot--when it worked on Linux, it beat the Snipping Tool all to pieces. Unfortunately, it is now only partially functional in Linux.) Anyway, the others that I would miss are Dolphin (file manager) Folders--file finder, KPatience Solitaire, and Kate, an editor.
But the kde version that seems to be available for Win 8 would present a whole desktop. I presently have the freebie ClassicShell installed, making the desktop look and work like Win 7. I would not like to lose that capability.
(No, I don't like or want the "normal" Metro desktop. What a piece of crap!)
So--comments, please.
