UAC off, metro broken

Hi All,Got a brand new windows 8 laptop, loaded solidworks onto it, no go. Google tells me I must turn off UAC for solidworks to work properly on windows 8. No problem, turn UAC off, solidworks is fine. Except now the metro screen is useless, not a single program (tile? app?) works, they all require UAC enabled to operate, it seems. So what to do? Is soldiworks operable with UAC enabled, if tweaked properly? Or should I just upgrade to windows 7 and ditch windows 8 entirely? Is this going to be an ongoing problem? Is windows 8 a toy for phones, not a real operating system for work computers?Cheers,Rob

Hello Rob, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Yep, you will need to have UAC enabled for Store apps to work. If you like, you can set UAC to "Never Notify" to minimize UAC prompts, but I would recommend at lease the default level for better security.
You might check to see if there may be an update or newer version of Solidworks that will help it run better in Windows 8. A couple of things to try:

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn
