PPS File Viewer for Win *???

I have Googled for a Windows 8 pps file viewer with no success. The 2008 version doesn't seem to work. Can someone tell me where to get a pps viewer for Window 8?

    Thanks Jim

    Hello hawkeye,

You might see how this version of PowerPoint Viewer works for you. It worked in my Windows 8.

Download PowerPoint Viewer from Official Microsoft Download Center

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Yeah, that is what I downloaded and installed. But something doesn't quite work right. If I start with the .pps file and try to get the viewer to open it, it gives an error message that this app can't run on this PC. But, if I start the viewer first, then select the file it opens as expected. There doesn't seem to be any way to get the viewer set as the default program to open pps files attached to Email.

    Thanks, Jim

Sometimes attached files in an email will need to be saved to say your desktop first, then opened.

The default path for the .exe file used by Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer is this below:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\PPTVIEW.EXE

As a test, download this sample .ppt file at the link below to see if it opens with Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer by default for you like it does me.

Thanks for the replies! Everything works now. I was using the link from the Win 8 "All Apps" list. When I changed to the Office14 folder for the program location, it works. Also, I had used the same Win 8 link for my web browser and it also failed to open a pps Email attachment. I changed the default to the Office14 link and all is well.

    Thanks again, Jim
