Installer path not updating / resetting

I just got my new laptop yesterday, and so far, I am really enjoying it! I did not think I would like Windows 8, but it really surprised me. One little problem I am having though, and it is more of an inconvenience than anything, is the installation path will not clear or reset when I try to install software. I installed my Canon printer software and now, anytime I go to install something, it wants to install everything to one of the Canon utility folders. I have to manually edit the install path and change it to a proper folder. How do I clear or reset the install path?
