I purchased a download of Symantec System Recovery 2013. Easy enough. Pay the money, download the app. OK. Comes down as a .zip file. Zip file contains and .ISO image. Crap. Burn the image to a CD. OK. Load the CD and voila, I am in an emergency recovery disk! Where's the program install? Not to be found! No setup.exe file. .inf won't install. What is this? Nothing on the simple menu gives and indication of any install option.

Anyone familiar with the install of this software? The documents shows how to install and use the app, but it is nothing like what I am seeing when the "install" disk is run.

Anyone familiar with this app? The product support seems like an endless loop of search, read, search, read some more. Nothing even close to what is happening with my install.

I don't even think this is actually an installation disk.

I didn't boot from the disk. I just loaded into the CD drive and up comes a recovery program. It has an option to browse the disk, and using that, I don't see an install exe file and right clicking on the .inf file and choosing install from list gives a message that it can't be installed using that method. It just looks like a disaster recovery disk. AND THE .TXT FILE LOCATED IN THE .ZIP FILE SAYS IT IS A RECOVERY DISK !! Nothing during the purchase made me think I would be sent a disk in the mail. I received an email with my activation key or serial number and other info. No additional info to download anything or expect a disk in the mail. And why offer a recovery disk to download at completion of the sale process?? Most confusing purchase I've ever made!!

I know how you feel tried to get an unmanaged version of End Point Protection to try but when you download it the unmanaged is grayed out so I buy the Small Business version and I tell you I like the program a lot but if I did not follow the email instructions exactly I would of never figured out how to install the Small Business End Point Protection 2013 Anti-virus software. I would do some reading about the program and check any email you might have gotten from Symantec. I know not much help but maybe it might make you think of what your missing or something etc. Good Luck. I just watched the product tour and it seems pretty much like any restore software.

The Try/BETA version download came with two zip files.

I gave up and returned the software. I was unaware that it could be this complicated just to download and install software. Not knocking Symantec, just not familiar with needing some type of app to install the software.

I got a refund for my 2 versions of End Point Protection SB and went with Symantec Norton Antivirus 2013 3 PC with a $45.00 rebate. Just the protection I wanted without the hassle.

You'll notice the english recovery disk is 702Mb. Once downloaded, there will be 2 ZIP files therein - 1 for 32-bit and the other is 64-bit. Once each is unzipped, the ISO file will be inside each folder. If the folders are blank, that likely means you attempted to unzip the file before it was completely downloaded, the files are hidden, or you cannot see the .ZIP extension of the file.

For anybody who may still be having this issue, I realized what the real solution was. Previously Symantec System Recovery (Backup Exec System Recovery) came on one DVD, it was both the installation and the boot-able recovery media. When I purchased this software (SSR 2013) I downloaded an iso file just like the OP. When launching that CD, there was no option to install (which threw me off because older versions did have this). This CD was just the boot-able recovery CD! Not the installer!

There is a separate download from Symantec for the various editions of SSR 2013 (Desktop, Server Edition, Virtual Edition). They come as 60-day trial-ware and you enter your product key to activate them. These are the programs, and are now separate from the boot-able Recovery CD's.

The box set of SSR 2013 has 7 CD/DVD's.
