I had a very similar problem. It started with a new MSI laptop, and while they would download, if I tried to open them (all 22 of them) it would hit the splash screen and then take me right back to the start screen. Thinking I had a defective laptop, I exchanged it for the identical MSI. And, boom, exact same probmel, not one app would work.
I got so frustrated I exchanged it for my Lenova Y580 ad have not had a problem since.
I am not dossing MSI, or complimenting Lenova, but to this wanna-be, if it's not the hardware, it's the software. BTW, Both MSI's and the one Lenova had exact versions of Win 8.
I feel for you. It turned out to be a month nightmare for me.
