Can't uninstall programs in Win8

I am trying to cleanup my system by uninstalling unused programs, but I can't get them to uninstall. I go into "Programs and Features" and right-click on the program to uninstall and I get this error message; "An error occurred while trying to uninstall (program name). It may have already been uninstalled." This happens to any program I try to uninstall, even freshly installed programs. I had just changed out my motherboard and CPU and had to reactivate Win8 by phone, so I don't know if this caused the problem or if it is something related to this past patch Tuesday (Feb 2013). I really don't want to do the refresh route but I have a feeling that maybe the only way to get uninstall functioning again.

Sounds like some corrupted system files.....try running sfc /scannow in command prompt window.

Do you use a registry cleaner? Some of the more aggressive ones remove keys related to installed programs. When you come to uninstall thrm windows can't find them

I have only tried Revo Uninstaller as suggested earlier in this thread to uninstall Sim City and Crysis 3 betas. But not beforehand, I was wondering if this was caused by upgrading from Win7 to Win8, due to admin accounts being different, but Sim City and Crysis betas were installed after the upgrade to Win8 so I don't know?
