Windows 8 webcam software (not App software)?

    Hi folks,

I got a Samsung NP range laptop with Windows 8 on it.

After playing around with it for a while, I have gotten pretty used to it. However, I cant for the life of me seem to find webcam software that is not an App. Does it exist as an independent software outside of Apps, Movie Maker etc?

Normally Samsungs use the YouCam software (pre installed) , is that not in your programs list?

    Thanks for the replies.

YouCam does not appear to be installed

Device Manager says the web cam is manufactured by Microsoft (?) and the device name is WebCam SC-13HDL11939N.

any generic software should work , for example if you start skype it should detect and use your webcam. If your wanting to use it for recording etc go here Support Samsung hover over the suport tab at the top and select pc and office , in the resulting box select PC then notebook then put n your model number and it'll link you to all the downloads for your lappy , the webcam drivers and software will be there in the downloads tab

    Windows 8 64bit

Hi guy I'm new to Windows 8.

Sorry this is an old thread.

I've just bought a new Samsung PDC Series 3 NP350E7C-A04 laptop with Windows 8 64bit, the advert says webcam. After installing all my software I search around the apps and there is noting relating to webcam. As mentioned Device Manager shows WebCam: SC-13HDL11939N (Microsoft).

I've search Samsung.com they only show WinXP driver which does work. I've Googled for these driver but nothing useful shows. I wonder if U4EA found any drivers?

There are loads of other glitches with Windows 8 which I will search for and make a new thread.

    I got my webcam working.

Checked the spec on Samsung and it said Cyberlink Youcam so I downloaded and installed Cyberlink Youcam 5.0 and it worked. Its strange it wasn't installed by default.

I sent Samsung a message about this, I shall have to wait for their reply.
