    64 bit software does not load on 64 bit Windows 8


    I have two versions of a software program and the 64 bit version wont install on Windows 8 but the 32 bit version will. The 64 bit version installs and when I double the icon the small 'thinking' circle appears next to the curser and spins for a second or two then it stops and nothing happens. I have tried all kinds of things to sort this out including: reinstalling Windows and running only that software program on my computer (no antivirus or any other program) but that did not work. When I did have antivirus installed I entered an exception in Windows defender but that did not work. I am administrator and gave all uses full permissions and that did not work.

    My computer is a new laptop Dell XPS L502X. The software works fine on my old Asus laptop running 64 bit Windows 7 so the software does work. I used the same installer file on my Dell.

    I have contacted the software vender and they cannot resolve the issue either. They seem to think it is a permissions issue. How do I sort this out short of removing Windows 8 from my computer?

    Did you try to right click on the installer and run as Administrator ? and make sure no anti virus is running.

    The software is Treadingblox. I tried right clicking and running as an administrator without any anti virus and it did not work. I have no idea what the problem is. If I do a fresh install of the software program I can see it flash for a second or so in the task manager as a running program then nothing happens. It is all very strange. Does anyone have any other ideas?

    I'm not familiar with Trading Blox. You might do better in their forums than here. (Their forums are limited to subscribers, so I can't see what might be posted there.)

    Have you tried installing the software in Windows 7 compatibility mode?

    Right click on the installer. Select "Troubleshoot Compatibility". Check the box that the program worked on earlier versions of Windows. Click Next. Choose Windows 7. Then click Next to finish the installation.
