Hello Guys,

Is anyone using Start8 Start Menu program fro Stardock, it is an excellent Start Menu for Windows 8, which only costs £3. On mine if I press the start button and roll my mouse up the list of recent programs when ever is gets to Microsoft Word (2007 version) it always pauses for about 5-8 seconds then displays the list of recently used word documents, when it is in this pause mode the start menu is dead, i.e if I scroll to word then attempt to press the start button nothing happens until the list of recently used word documents is shown.

All other programs are shown fairly instant. Is this a bug or am I the only one affected.

Thanks

Tony

I did a fresh format and install of Windows 8 64 Bit Pro. Sorry but I couldn't live without a start button so I have installed the Start8 start menu which is great. I try sometimes not to use it but find metro frustrating to find programs as I have many. I will use Metro for apps only and desktop of serious computing.

I'll have to try it with mine. I haven't noticed it.

Do you have the latest version of Start8? They have a recent update.

I just tried that with my Start8 and no pause or any hesitation. I'm using a SATA III SSD, not a conventional hard drive. Maybe that is the difference? Also, an i7 3770 CPU and 16GB of RAM.

I think I have solved it guys, I've been tiding up my documents since my reinstall and several of the links in the jump list were invalid as they had been moved. I have right clicked and removed the offending documents and now there is no pause when hovering over word.

No problems with Start8 here on my PCs.

I still can't understand how anyone could possible think that StartIsBack is better than this. But some say it is.

Start8 has more features, and it looks like it belongs on Windows 8, unlike StartIsBack, which doesn't even match the Windows 8 look.
