    Problematic Adobe Photoshop in Windows 8... Please help.

    I recently got Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 Extended and installed it in my Windows 8 PC. First of all, here are my specs (Please refer to the 'System spec' section below the thread for more information) ;
    • OS - Windows 8
    • Processor - Intel Core i7-3770 (@ 3.40 GHz)
    • GPU - NVidia GeForce GT 640 4.00 GB
    • Monitors - 2x (Dual) Acer S231HL 1080p, Full HD Monitors.

    So after I installed Photoshop and launched it, it said that there were problems with both of my monitors. I ignored that (there was nothing else to do) and now when I open a new project (Ctrl+N) in Photoshop with;
    • Canvas Size - 1024x768 (This doesn't actually matter because the problem repeats in other sizes too)
    • 16 bit color.
    • Background color - white.

    The white background is rather link an off white - peach color. I did not do anything to Photoshop nor did I change the PC settings.

    Screenshot of the canvas configurations;

    Screenshot of the 'white' canvas;
    Click image for larger version

    Please note that the WHITE color can be seen properly in any other application. The color tint of my monitor is set to 'Cool' and not 'Warm'.

    Please help me with this issue.
    Thank you very much...

    Go to Edit, Preferences, General, change color picker to Windows. Your images should be 8 bit not 16.

    Would be helpful to know what the error message said. Looks like a colour profile problem to me.

    If you go to Control Panel > Colour Management, is the right ICC/ICM profiles set for your monitors?

    In PS, go to Edit > Color Settings, does it show sRGB as the as the RGB working space?

    When you open the new document, click the 'Advanced' down arrow, is the colour profile sRGB?

    This is a profile/working space issue, it could not detect your monitors profile correctly.

    Try going to "Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings" and deleting both "Color Settings.csf " and "Adobe Photoshop CS5 Prefs.psp" and then relaunching Photoshop.

    Also make sure your monitor profile is correct like Arc said.
