So i just installed classic shell and set it to the windows 7 style theme. The only thing i don't like is that when you click all programs or apps your get the way windows XP shows all apps in another pop out menu. Is there a way to get classic shell do it like windows 7aand like show the apps in side the start menu

I feel the same way. That is why I use Start8 instead. If Classic Shell would work wo/ cascading like a tree, I'd give it another try...

May I ask why you prefer the inline style instead of the menu expanding to the right? Is it just because "Windows 7 does it that way" or some other reason? :) Why it expands to the right is because it can show more programs using the full height (and width) of the screen without any scrolling required for the user.

I do the testing and give feedback on User Experience and ideas for Classic Shell.

Its not because windows 7 does it. I just find it messy when it just pops out and for me, it is easier to find certain folders within the menu

From Classic Shell settings -> Menu look tab, change to Single column (scroll). That will make it less 'messy'.

Also, from General Behavior, you can optionally increase the value of "Menu Delay". That will make menus sticky, meaning they will open only by mouse click not mouse hover like the Windows 7 menu.

Thanks for the tip! Yes I remember that setting now. But its still not the like the Windows 7 start menu. The single column is full screen height and skewed to the right. I am sticking with Start8 for now...
