Sometimes when I'm in metro, when I hit a panel nothing happens. It looks like something to do with alt tabbing, also sometimes when im in a app, i can't hit windows key to get out of it.
Anyone have the same issue?

Hello Ryan,

If you mean that the Switcher bar or Start button on the left side will not open sometimes on the Start screen, then this will happen if you have just started Windows 8 to the Start screen and have not opened anything else.

As for closing Store apps or Metro screens, the tutorial below can help show you a few different ways to.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4125-apps-close-windows-8-a.html

Hope this helps, :)

Thankyou for your reply, but what I mean is that while on the home screen trying to select an app, you hit the tile and it gives the little animation of when you click on tiles, but the tile won't open, this goes along with where sometimes when I'm in a tile, the windows key can't be used to go back to home.

Unfortunately, fixing this usually ends up in having to refresh Windows 8 to do so. :(

It's happened to me more times than I care to mention. Sometimes its just a select few apps. The last time it happened all tiles were inactive and the hot corners didn't work. Couldn't get to the desktop or launch task manager. In the past I've tried doing a refresh and a reset which had no effect. Uninstalling and reinstalling the apps didn't work either. I ended up reinstalling Windows 8 to fix it, for a while anyway. The last time it happened I just gave up and went back to Windows 7. I'd try doing the refresh and or reset, maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

I know I made this thread 7 months ago, but this problem is still there. I've reinstalled my OS since, so reinstalling/refreshing wouldn't fix it.
Here is a video of the issue:

I have to alt+tab to be able to get out of the start menu. This happens all the time, and it is so annoying.

My best guess or hunch or whatever you want to call it, is it's a video driver issue or video related issue. Try updating your video card driver if possible. If you are using the PC manufacturers supplied driver you may want to try getting it directly from Nvidia or ATI. If you are already using the Nvidia or ATI driver then try the PC manufacturers driver. Like I say though this is just a hunch on my part.

When you did the reinstall did you do the factory recovery or clean install?

Ryan,

You might see if these troubleshooting steps below may help. I'm leaning towards step 16 with Morphological Filtering may be the issue since you have AMD graphics and this is happening after a clean install.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/21051-apps-tiles-not-working-responding-fix-windows-8-a.html
I do not have that check box in my CCC.

After a computer restart with UAC, I haven't had the problem YET. But I can't judge on trying to force it in the first few minutes of my computer being on, I'll keep this updated once I see if this fixes it.
Thanks, Brink :)

You're welcome. :)

Yeah, if you disabled UAC, then that would be the cause. When you disable UAC, that basically has explorer running elevated, and Store apps are hard coded to not able to run in an elevated environment for security reasons.
