Help with Remote Desktop App wanted

Hi everyone, this is my first post.
just got a new laptop with Windows 8 and my desktop PC has Windows 7 on it.
i want to use the Remote Desktop App but, when I get to the enter credentials screen, I enter my email address that I use to log into my laptop with, but, it won't accept the password that is used for the laptop/email, any ideas what I am doing wrong ?
I have made sure remote connections are allowed on desktop PC.

You need to use the user name and password for the desktop.

My desktop has no password to log on with, and I tried my email address with no password, didn't work, do I need to create a password for my desktop (admin) account ?

Did you try proceeding entering user name and no password (or no user name and no password). If these approaches don't work, then maybe a password will get things going. Not sure if you actually need a password for RDC. Have never tried RDC on a computer that did not have a password.
