Install wont start

Hello all,
New to the site, as well as windows 8. I'm having trouble with, well everything really. I've tried to install a few different things (curse client, steam client, google chrome and a few others). Nothing happens, I have no idea why or what I'm doing wrong. The only things I've been able to download and install were World of Warcraft and google search. Any help would be appreciated, getting very frustrated.
