I'd like to share this app to everyone, I don't know if it'll be able to be downloaded as it's in the UK version of the Windows Store, but THIS! Music Info!! Oh my gravy! THIS, is what a quintessential metro designed app for Windows 8 is! THIS, is what Xbox Music should had morphed into after Zune!! YES!!! :dinesh:

Music Info app for Windows in the Windows Store

Oh my gosh, this app is like the Windows 8 version of Nokia Music! Any Nokia Windows Phone users might know what I'm talking about! EXCLAMATION MARK!

just click on view in windows store and it take you to the download in Canada ,$1.49 cdn ,or a choice to try ,I click try and am using it now ,in you opinion why is such a great app ?

Edit to add this -liking it now as I play around with it ,takes my collection and add to playlist of sorts ,but I like the ability to compare other artist who play similar stuff as artist I listen to now !

so If I pay for it do I get to select similar artist and play there music over the internet or do I just get the ability to buy there music and download it ?

:ditto:

This is part of the reason why it's a great app. It's functional than Xbox Music, which in all honesty, Xbox Music on Windows Phone is better. The other HUGE reason that it's great and WAY better than Xbox Music: the beautiful metro design of it. That app is the BEST definition of how to design an app for Windows 8. It's clean, it's modern, it's immersive. Xbox Music is just meh.

I read that if you buy the app, it allows you to have a live tile and will have a beta version of a metadata editor for individual tracks in Album view. Something again, Xbox Music doesn't really have.

Hi there
I still think Winamp beats all of these -- especially with its ability to play music based on FOLDER selection and to have music libraries than can span different disks.

Winamp can also use Gracenote for automatic tagging and can rip CD's etc into FLAC format too.

I've even got this applcation on an android smartphone too -- works in latest release of "Dumbdroid" --4.1

cheers

What the what?! You can pin artists to the Start Screen!

It seems like there is a glitch with it as some people are reporting crashes with it. I've been getting them too, as well as the Nearby crash.

Winamp is awful at tagging metadata. I still use it, mostly out of habit since I did grow up on it. But it is pretty archaic. A couple of reasons I like it is I like a particular lyrics plugin. I also like the small interface. And I like the ability to write a WAV file from any source.

Hi there

If you want to tag manually use something like MP3tag -- works for FLAC etc.

I got most of my music tagged automatically since I did CD rips into FLAC and Gracenote gets the CD data and tags the FLAC output during the rip.

Mp3 tag is fine for tagging for manual tagging. It's a FREE application too.

Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v2, MP4, OGG, FLAC, ...)

One of the things I like about Winamp is the ability to have AND PLAY music in FOLDERS -- I don't like "Proprietary data bases" or "libraries". You don't need to set up complex play lists - either play the whole folder / subfolder or select the files and play those. Really simple system --although you can use playlists if you want.

I like WINAMP's built in equalizer too -- most of the new sound systems / cards / drivers just give you a mix of "Pre-canned" effects which are usually designed for emphasized bass - and sounds generally far to "Boomy". Winamp equalizer allows you to manually select frequency gain etc which you CAN save as presets if you want.

For example it's easy to have say folder for OPERA, folder for HEAVY METAL etc and sub folders according to taste -- whether by Artist, Album or whatever.

This system can span volumes, you don't get Broken Libraries and can even be backed up or archived via simple "Drag and Drop" in File (or Windows) explorer.

Some of the modern cataloguing systems are getting "Two clever by half".

I keep mine simple as I don't want to re-riip over 3,000 CD's again !!!!.

Cheers
jimbo

I don't see where this app is so amazing, takes forever to load music from an indexed source, displays nothing at all under Artists, album art isn't cached so the images are constantly loading as you scroll back and forth. Besides the functional issues it's not even that great of a looking app. I think it has potential but it needs a lot of work.

No, there isn't a time limit. It seems with the paid version, you have m4a file playback, and I think animated Now Playing backgrounds. There are a few other things that separate it from the trial, they're more posh things though.

it has a few flaws i think ,one for me is that is has the wrong band listed for some tunes ,i have a lot of Jethro Tull music and one mp3 is Ian Anderson talking about music Riffs ,and it picked that one mp3 and credited it a band call the Riffs,Death or Glory ,and done similar mistakes with a few others songs ,one song called Wind ,it shows i have one song by a band called Wind ,and these songs are in folders of J Tull tunes, list 5 time under H ,huey lewis and the news ,63 tunes , sows in each of the 5 add to queue, also don't like the fact i can skip a song if i don't want to listen to it
edit i just figure out hot to skip a tune i don't like ,click on collection ,choose tracks ,pick next track
