I should have given more information.what exactly are you trying to play?, are these mp3's?, do you have .mp3's associated with the correct programs so they will play? Can you play these files with any program?
please give some more info
I am using the Music App on my Windows 8 as you can see in the screenshot. When I'm on my xbox, I can use the app normally. However, when I try to use it on my laptop I get this error. It's the same process, I just can't play anything with this app on my laptop. I don't use an antivirus and I'm pretty sure the app is not blocked.still not sure what you are doing, streaming songs from xbox to pc via smartglass app?
make sure your anti-virus and firewall settings are blocking the stream I guess.
Of course, I can sign into the app normally and even download information with it, for example, I made a playlist on my xbox, the windows app will sync with it.Are you signed into Xbox Music?
Neil Davidge has done an amazing job with the OST, the results speak for themselves. First video game soundtrack to ever enter in the top 50 chart. My laptop is quite clean, it has no music, videos or pictures. So yea, I am trying to stream music.Hmm, from your screenshot it looks like you're trying to stream music, unless if you have the Halo 4 OST (the soundtrack is nice but not the best) in your Music library.
I'm going to assume you've already tried looking up the error code?

I already looked up the error but the closest result I could get was about making a registry key which would help the system recognize my sound card. Problem is I don't have a sound card so naturally, nothing changed.
I did get a driver error once but it disappeared after I installed the corresponding realtek drivers. I haven't found many signs of the same error on the net, people just refer to it as "can't play songs" which pretty much describes the problem.
