Windows 8 not saving autorotate of images in gallery/viewer apps

We need to be able to disable this feature. To quote Jason1337 'it's hard to figure out which photos are "fixed" and which are "faked."'
I'm trying to copy photos into a Word 2007 document. All the portrait ones come out sideways but Windows Explorer (wrongly) shows their thumbnails as correct. This only occurs with my new camera. My previous camera did not record orientation information. It's frustrating when "new, improved, more intelligent" technology makes experienced, competent people seem stupid.
Is there any news on a fix from Microsoft to disable this feature?
Can anyone recommend a program to display thumbnails without auto-rotation so I can quickly identify pictures that I need to rotate?

I don't know a program that can display the images without auto-rotation, but I do know one that can scan a folder for non-rotated images and rotate them. The main thing is that it only rotates pictures that need to be rotated and it does what you expect it to do. It's called "JPEG Autorotate" and you can download it here.

    THIS!^^
Completely solve the issue. All you have to do after importing new photos is right click the folder and auto-rotate. Thank you!! Been looking in to this for months!

Help, I am extremely frustrated. I downloaded the windows essentials, looking forward to using photo gallery but it will not load. I was wondering what we can use to tag photos and even more for all the photo editing functions? Is there anything in the desktop mode that it like it?
