Will I lose these programs with W8

I use these programs a LOT.
Excel 2007, Power Point 2007, Word 2007, Outlook 2007, Live photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Windows DVD maker,Microsoft research autocollage 2008. If I upgrade to W8 will these programs work as before? If not will I have to purchase the latest version if there is a later version?

Newegg had w8 Pro upgrade for W7 (which I have) at $69. Does this sound correct?

On Excel i have 8 -12 windows open all the time. Does W8 support this approach?

Check out the Microsoft "Windows 8 Compatibility" site to check out your programs. You should be fine with Office 2007; you'll need to download and install Live Photo Gallery, & Movie Maker from the Windows Live Essentials site if you do a "clean install."

You can buy Windows 8 Pro upgrade for $40 through Microsoft until the end of January. Download the "Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant" and it will guide you through the purchase (and check the compatibility of your installed programs and connected gear):

I doubt you'll have any problem with Office 2007. I'm still using 2003 myself and it upgraded without a hitch. As rchris pointed out, run the upgrade adviser. In my case I had a handful of drivers and utilities that were marked as non-compatible but nothing major, certainly not Office or Visual Studio or anything. I've found that usually I have to do a clean install to get a stable upgrade: not this time. This one went fine.

I've used both Office 2007 and Office 2010 in Windows 8, no problems.

Live Essentials has been updated to Live Essentials 2012 so if you have an older one, you'll have to upgrade. but it's free so who cares.
